How to Make Custom Party Stickers in Canva and Print Then Cut with Cricut

Hi friends! Welcome back to Alina Craft Studio. Today I want to show you how I make my own custom party stickers using Canva, a printer, and my Cricut cutting machine.

I have used this method for many different projects and occasions. I decorate goodie bags for birthday parties and baby showers, and the same workflow works for weddings, holidays, themed parties, and company events. You can make stickers in any size, color, or theme you need.

Here are a few sticker sets I have made with this process. Some are photo birthday stickers, some are thank-you stickers, and some go straight onto cookie favors.

Design the Stickers in Canva #

I usually start in Canva because it is quick and easy to create and customize designs there. I recommend opening Canva and keeping a separate file where you collect every design you might turn into a party sticker.

For round stickers, I create a custom size of 5 by 5 inches, then add a circle to the canvas. The whole sticker design stays inside that circle.

From there you can build the design from scratch. Add a name, age, date, logo, photo, or any other detail you want. I love how easy it is to edit and swap the design in Canva. These are a few of the thank-you stickers I keep in one file: a fairy princess, a princess in a purple dress, and a disco-ball design with a name.

Once the design is ready, download it from Canva. I download a PNG so I can upload it into Cricut Design Space.

Prepare the Stickers in Cricut Design Space #

Cricut Design Space is the software for the Cricut. After you upload the design, prepare the stickers for Print Then Cut.

If you already downloaded the stickers as a round shape from Canva, you are ready to size them. I usually make my stickers 2 inches or 2.5 inches in diameter, but you can choose whatever size works best for your project.

If the file came in from Canva as a square, turn it into a circle before you continue. You can do that right in Design Space.

First, resize the design. I often resize to 2 inches. Then go to Shapes and add a circle. Make the circle the same size as the design, select both shapes, open Align, and choose Center. With both shapes centered, use Slice. Slice is at the bottom of the screen. It removes the four corners you do not need and leaves a perfect circle.

Arrange as Many Stickers as Possible #

The next step is to fit as many stickers as you can on one sheet. For printing, I use a template I made specifically for Print Then Cut. I have a separate video that shows how that template works and how to maximize the printable and cuttable area. It is a useful trick if you make a lot of Print Then Cut projects: Maximize Your Print Then Cut Area in Cricut Design Space.

Arrange the stickers inside that area. When the layout looks right, select all of the stickers and click Attach. Attach keeps them in the exact arrangement you created. Then click Make It.

Design Space shows the Print Then Cut preview so you can see every sticker on the sheet. You can also change the number of copies if you need more than one sheet. When you are ready, click Continue and move on to printing.

I print all of my stickers on HTVRONT printable vinyl sticker paper. I love the glossy look and can definitely recommend it.

For the printer, I select the glossy material and then click Print. On my Epson EcoTank ET-3950, that is Photo Glossy Paper. These are the settings I use, but always check the recommendation for the specific printable paper you are using. The best settings can be different from one product to another.

For the Cricut material setting, I choose printable sticker paper. In Design Space that is Sticker Paper, Removable. The Cricut cuts only the top sticker layer.

Cut and Peel the Stickers #

Once the sheet is printed, place it on the Cricut mat. Make sure the sheet is positioned correctly, then load the mat into the machine.

The Cricut first reads the registration marks printed around the page. Then Print Then Cut cuts around each individual sticker.

I like to gently bend the mat away from the paper. After that, the stickers peel off cleanly.

Ready for the Party #

The finished stickers can go straight onto goodie bags, party favors, packaging, or whatever project you are working on. You can also use the same designs as cupcake toppers or other party decorations.

I love making stickers this way because I can completely customize them for any party. Change the name, the age, the colors, or the theme, and the same Canva and Print Then Cut steps work again.
